Note from a Happy Patient

Dr. Boshnick, I looked at the moon last night and saw only ONE!!! It’s been years since I saw only one moon! Made me tear up, even. I wanted to message you but it was too late. It was my first chance to do that since having these lenses. I had to tell you!

Note of Gratitude from a Patient

Hi Dr B! I wanted to let you know I’m absolutely loving my scleral lenses. I can’t feel them at all, I wear them all day at work with zero problems. I am so thrilled!!!! I feel like I’ve gotten my life back. Thanks so much to you and Jade and all of your various helpers who were so kind and patient with me! I will see you next year. Sincerely, Nora

Note of Gratitude for Saving the Life of her Sister

Dr. Boshnick, I just want to thank you for all your help with my sister. The nightmare began on Dec 21, 2006 after she receivied bad lasik surgery. My sister has Rheumatoid Arthritis and has also had RK surgery on her eyes but was approved for Lasik. The doctor told her she would be fine and all she may need was reading glasses. Well, that was not the case. her vision was horrible. She was seeing blur, glare, starburst, halo and not to mention the distortion-multiple, triple images. She would see up to eight moons at night. She went from being a normal person to nothing. She could no longer read, drive, see to fix her hair or makeup, do much of anything. She could not escape this because it was all she could see. She also had to give up being the PTO President at her son’s school. This changed her life totally. She felt totally useless and was afraid to do anything because of how she was seeing. This affected her mind in such a way she no longer wanted to live. She could not go to her son’s football games at night because all the lighting, people, everything looked horrific. She decided it would be better to die than live this way. We, the family had to be with her 24 hrs a day to try and keep her from killing herself. She did not want to eat and begged us to leave and let her die. She lost about 45 lbs and was nothing but skin and bones. We had her to the hospital several times for dehydration. She was also in and out of mental hospitals 5 times due to the impact this had on her mind. The family was devastated, we felt we had lost her, her husband did not have his wife, her son did not have his mother, our mother did not have her daughter and I had lost my sister. I had searched everywhere for help for her. We had took her to several eye doctors where she was told standard lens or glasses would not correct her vision. They also did not recommend anymore invasive surgery and we knew physically or mentally she could not handle that. After, much search on the internet I found a website with other poor people going through some of the same things. I found very many helpful people and also found out about two doctors who I thought could help my sister. One was in Ft. Lauderdale who I emailed that was very helpful and thought he may be able to help her with a Z wave lens. We got her there and he was great but the Z wave did not work for her due to her dry eye and it resting on her cornea. She was back home feeling even more hopeless and wanting to die and then back to the hospital. I had also emailed another doctor who is in Miami who thought he could help her with a Scleral lens. After getting out of the hospital again after 6 weeks we got her to Miami where she met Dr. Edward Boshnick. He has been wonderful from the start. He was very caring, understanding and went out of his way to help her. He made her a Scleral lens which has changed her life. She can now function again and has her life back. We are ever so grateful the nightmare is over and to have her back thanks to the prayers and Dr. Edward Boshnick.

We are all doing great. My lenses are perfect. Can’t imagine how I would survive without them. You’re amazing. Can’t bless you enough. Stay safe.

Chance Encounter leads to Thank you From a Patient in 1972

This is a true to life event that happened to my daughter Stacey, who received the following message from a friend on Facebook: “Hi Stacey, hope you are well. I’m reaching out because I had a meeting with a gentleman on one of our outdoor construction sites and as we were walking to the backyard he mentioned that while he was this far down south, “Pinecrest,” he wished he could see his optometrist from “back in the day, Boshnick!” When I heard the last name I turned to him and had him repeat the name again and I said “Eddie Boshnick?” and he replied “Yes.” Your dad fitted him with contacts in 1972 and changed his life! Your dad had a huge impact on this man’s life. His name is Cecil.”

Grateful Future Optometrist

Hi Dr. Boshnick, I hope you’re doing well in the middle of this pandemic. I’m a couple weeks into my residency in Providence, and I had the opportunity to do a scleral lens exam today. It went well thanks to the training I got in my time at your clinic. I wanted to thank you again for the opportunity and everything you taught me. It was a great learning experience, even though it got cut short by the pandemic. I hope you and your wife are staying safe down in Miami. All the best, Brett

Grateful Future Optometrist

Hello Dr. Boshnick, I hope you and Jeri are enjoying the weekend and staying healthy during this crazy time. I was wondering if I may have your permission to list you as a reference in my resume. If so, I would include your email/phone number so that potential employers may contact you to speak about my time at your office this past Fall (August 2019 to November 2019), what kind of patients/cases we saw, my role as a clinician/interaction with patients, and your impression of me.

I really enjoyed my time working with you alongside Amanda and Roheena. All thanks to you, I now feel very comfortable with scleral lenses and look forward to making a difference in the lives of patients with keratoconus, post surgical corneal ectasia, post corneal transplants, SJS, and other ocular diseases. I am very grateful for all that you’ve taught me.

Thanks,

Family thankful for a “Miracle”

l cannot thank you enough for the Hannukah miracle that you provided to our family! Thank you so so much from the bottom of our hearts for your help in finally giving [name withheld] the gift of clear vision with scleral lenses for her Keratoconus! In 2 to 3 appointments you were able to achieve what other doctors couldn’t do for years. We are astounded. Initially, after seeing your lnstagram photos and videos, we were skeptical. For so many years, [name withheld] was shuffled around to different doctors and emergency rooms as her vision kept deteriorating. Most heart-breaking was that she is an absolute bookworm. Any book we gave her from a young age, she would devour. The year leading up to her seeing you, her vision got so bad that she had to put a book up to her face. We lost all hope that we were very close to pressuring her parents to have her learn brail if she truly had no promising treatment. [Name withheld] herself told us this past week “I can’t believe after all these years, and trying on all these contacts, Dr. Boshnick was able to get it right so fast!” She is ecstatic. She’s going to have a brighter future ahead of her thanks to you!

From a very happy Facebook friend

Dr. Edward Boshnick it’s hard to believe that it’s been 8 years since I flew to Florida for my first appointment in your world-renowned eye specialist practice. When I arrived, I had near legally blind vision from post-LASIK complications, and when I left a week later, I was seeing 20-20 with your prescribed scleral contact lenses. You truly are a miracle worker, and it’s so evident why patients are referred to you from all over the world. Thank you for blessing me with your expertise. I will forever be grateful for you and restored vision.

Note from an Appreciative Patient

Dr. Boshnick, It was the first day of work today with the lenses and it worked out great. I got my quality of life back the first time in over a year . You are really amazing! Words can’t express my gratitude for what you have done for me. Again, I appreciate so much what you are doing!!

Letter of Thanks that Arrived via WhatsApp

My Dear Doctor Boshnick! Ur such a great eye doctor, as a matter of fact, one of the few doctors that know how to empower his patients thru knowledge! And I will tell you today, and whenever I have the chance to let u and everybody I know how good professional ur! ? With such well deserved accolade, I have to let u know that my year examination with u is way overdue, but I’ve been traveling between two worlds! And I haven’t been able to wear my lenses that long! So, I will make an appointment with Dr Thrattler first! And then I will make an appointment with you thereafter! I need to know how are we going to work with the cataract that I’m developing! I have plans to see ya then! You have a great time this end of this year with family, friends, and staff! Also, I would like to ask you if you do regular eye examinations? Because my husband needs an eye doctor and a friend! They don’t have the issues that I have with the cornea but I see them struggling with eye prescriptions! Please let me know? Take care and I hope I didn’t keep u long with this sms! ?

Letter of Thanks that Arrived via Facebook

Thank you letter from a woman who’s had her lenses over a year

Dear Dr. Boshnick, I want to tell you how wonderful and patient you were with me in fitting my scleral lenses and eye glasses

I have the scleral lenses for over a year now and love, love, love them. My eyes are so comfortable and I am able to wear only ONE pair of sunglasses while driving! The tearing and severe discomfort have stopped the “brightness” I experienced for so many years.

The eye glasses are a perfect addition. Now I am able to see even more clearly and enjoy reading without the constant putting on and taking off of reading glasses.

Your knowledge and expertise should be noted. It is great that you share and take the time for training students in your profession. The “planting of seeds” on up and coming minds is such a positive thing.

Doctor, thank you again. May God continue His blessings on your family and practice of restoring comfortable sight.

Letter of Thanks

Just to let you know they fit and feel (meaning I don’t feel them) great. No wonder your number 1! The only problem is that it means we won’t see you soon!

Have a great Thanksgiving, and both Bill and I appreciate your taking such great care of me, and the support you show both of us.

Fondly, Katie and Bill

Letter of Thanks

Dear Dr. Boshnick, Marcella, Stephanie, Melissa, and Cam,

Thank you for your help last month in investigating my case. I really appreciate the excellent care from you.

Best Wishes, Adeline and Tony

Letter of Thanks

Dear Dr. B, I just wanted to thank you once again for everything you are doing for me. It’s great to know that after everything I’ve been through, at least I am finally now in the best hands, with a doctor I can fully trust and wants my best. I cannot thank you enough for all your time, patience and your dedication to make things as good as possible for me.

All the best, Alberto

P.S: All my family loves you.. my father, mother, wife and now David too.

Letter From A Patient Now Applying to Medical School

Good afternoon Dr. Boshnick,

My name is [XXXXXXX], I am a former patient of yours that you fit with scleral lenses a few years back, and I also shadowed you a couple of summers ago. I am currently a junior at [XXX] preparing to graduate this upcoming Fall semester. This semester I am enrolled in a physics class that teaches about optics and the way lenses and mirrors work. After learning about the complexities of how these lenses work, I just wanted to say thank you for all the effort you spent on me and for the patience and diligence you had to perfect my vision. Before I saw you, my vision was so distorted I could not drive, see the font on standardized exams, or recognize familiar faces. I am now applying to medical school and hope to pursue a career in which otherwise would not have been possible with the quality of vision I had prior to your work. Vision is something so many of us take for granted until it becomes impaired; but every morning while putting on my lenses, I am reminded of how lucky I am that you took the time to perfect the curvatures of the lenses so that I could fulfill all of my goals and aspirations. I sincerely hope to one day have the ability to affect others lives as you have mine.

Letter from a Scleral Lens Patient

September 4th, 2016

Dear Dr. Boshnick,

I want to tell you how wonderful and patient you were with me in fitting my scleral lenses and eyeglasses. I have the scleral lenses for over a year now and love, love, love them.

My eyes are so comfortable and I am able to wear only one pair of sunglasses while driving!! The tearing and severe discomfort have stopped from the “brightness” I experienced for so many years.

The eyeglasses are a perfect addition. Now I am able to see even more clearly and enjoy reading without the constant putting on and taking off of reading glasses.

Your knowledge and expertise should be noted. It is great that you share and take the time for training students in your profession. The “planting of seeds” on up and coming minds is such a positive thing. I am looking forward to you taking care of my eyes for a long, long time.

Doctor, thank you again. May God continue His blessings on your family and practice of restoring comfortable sight.

Fran Lendman

Note of thanks from Andres

I have been thinking of mailing you to tell you I’ve been very well, and to thank you again for completely changing my life. My eyes also feel better with the scleral lenses on. First thing I do when I get out of bed is put them on!

Dr. Boshnick: The Only Doctor who Never Gave up

Dr. Boshnick has been the only doctor that has never given up on finding a solution for my Corneal Ectasia secondary to multiple surgical past procedures. His commitment to help me was the only thing keeping me from not jumping off a tall building. I’ve been to so many, many corneal surgeons, including those at top rated institutions, where I was simply told “there is nothing we can do for you”. It has been a long discouraging journey until Dr. Boshnick came into my life. I’m now wearing a soft Proclear lens with a Hybrid lens on top in both eyes. Need glasses for distance and reading, but able to function completely. I can even drive at night which has given me my freedom back. After being misled by so many reputable physicians, it’s gold to have found a physician who truly has intentions to only help his patients. Cheers to Dr. Boshnick for his honesty, professionalism, and overall total commitment to his patients. A gem of a man!!

Kind Regards,

Jami C, South Florida

Keer and Dr. Boshnick

From Marina LoCascio: Here’s the most serious dose of inspiration guys. Seriously, if this story doesn’t make you rethink perspective and the importance of staying positive despite so much person and ocular troubles, nothing will. I am proud to know Keer and Dr. Edward Boshnick and am inspired daily by them. Thank you for being so amazing! So many celebs there last night celebrating being grateful, most importantly Keer.

Testimonial by Email

Hello Dr. Boshnick,

How are you and your family doing? Hope everything is going well!

I wanted to write to you to update you on my excellent vision and comfort with the lenses. For the past month I have felt very comfortable with the lenses, nothing bothers me! And also I am getting really good vision. It may have helped that now some days I am taking them off and putting them back on at the middle of the day.

I also went to see Dr. Kantor like 2 weeks ago, and he told me everything was going good too, getting good vision and with my corneas really healthy. I think that Dr. Kantor wrote you an email with more detail.

So, thank you very much for everything and I´ll will keep you updated on any changes or if I continue with these great news in a couple of months.

Patient in Aviation Field

Hi Doc, the new type of lens that you have fitted me with are doing pretty well thus far for what you say is the beginning of the process. They will take some time to get used to re the extraction and insertion given their size compared to the previous Rigid Lenses but I’m getting better at it. I just completed my Aviation Medical and the near vision chart was good but the far vision was a bit hard at the instant but thanks to some memory I got through. See you on Wednesday morning at 8 am to continue the process of getting the right fit and power to sort out my vision. I have to say thanks very much Doc for your patience over the years and I am very happy that you are my Doctor. According to your observation, I generally have a serious disposition when it comes to visits to your office because you have to understand that this part of my life is very serious to me, as flying is not just the only thing that I see myself doing in life while I am physically able, but also the means by which I provide for my family and my future. When you’ve grown up your entire life not wanting to do anything else or see yourself good at doing anything else, then you can appreciate how important and serious this is to me. Just continue to be the patient, professional, caring and competent doctor you have always been in doing your best to getting my vision as perfect as It can be. My condition plagues my thoughts pretty much every single day of my life and even more especially when the time comes around to complete my Aviation Medical. I also want you to know that you are well appreciated and once again thanks.

Letter from a Optometry Intern

How are you? I hope everything is going well! It’s almost time to get new students! Can’t believe how the time has flown.

After much consideration, I have decided to apply for the Cornea and Contact Lens Residency program this year. As we got more information on the program, I knew that after wanting the residency for so long, I would be disappointed if I didn’t try for admittance.

You are my mentor and the kind of practitioner I hope to be. It would mean so much to me to have a recommendation letter from you. I believe you know better than anyone what skills I have in fitting specialty lenses, and working with high need patients.

Thank you for all you have done to help and teach me this year. A recommendation letter from you would mean a lot to me. Let me know if this is something you’d feel comfortable doing.

Thank you and have a great week!

Patient from Chile

Greetings

Today I did too well with the new scleral lens you gave me. No pain, little red, I was OK all day. We leave so grateful to you, glad to have met you and grateful that God put you on my path so you could fix my eyes, hope to see you again soon and for now we shall keep in contact via e mail.

My father sends you his thanks for helping me. I will miss not seeing you every day, much love. I’ll write you when I get to Chile. Good night, god bless you!>

Patient from Northern Florida

I am currently using the largest of the lenses you gave me for my right eye. It’s the one with the largest vault over the eye and has almost a flat rim around the edge. It was not my “go to” lens as it took a while to get used to the size……but a funny thing happened. The large lens has turned out to be fantastic for me!! Very comfortable now that I have become accustomed to it and the best part is HARDLY ANY FOGGING. I can actually wear it for 12 hours without any issues and there is no need for Celluvisc or any other extra lubricants…just the sodium chloride….plus it fits in the cartridge I currently use with my enzymatic cleaner. I am so happy with the results I am getting and wanted to thank you for changing my life in such a positive way. As you know, I was actually preparing a trip to California to have multiple surgeries on each eye with no guarantee of results and the possibility of numerous side effects. I really don’t have the words to express how thankful I am. You will always have my respect and admiration.

Patient from Bangkok, Thailand

Thank you for all your help and support to get our daughter Nemo out of her present condition. She is able to see a bit better then what she could when we came to Miami. This wouldn’t have been possible without your help. We are really greatfull to God who blessed us with your support.

Stevens-Johnson Patient from Thailand

Thank you Doctor for everything you have done for me, I can never forget it . Miss u already !!

Thanks again for your superb care and expertise in treating my eyes. I very much appreciate you and your team. I call on physicians for a living, and know the delicate balance it takes to be a great physician/practitioner. Excellent decision making, knowledge and expertise in the field, good hands, a good listener/bedside manner, compassion, and utilizing the best technologies available to diagnose and treat your patients. You have all of these traits, which makes it great for patients like myself.

Patient from Cleveland

Good morning. I would like to make an appointment with you if possible. It has been a little over 1.5 years since I have been to your office for a visit and I just wanted to make a visit. I have done wonderful since I saw you last and my life has been a joy since I first made my way to see you and have you fit me for hard contacts. I can’t express my gratitude for how much my life has changed for the better since getting these contacts.

If possible, I would like to fly into FFL on Sunday Sept 28 and come see you on Monday Sept 29 in the morning. I would like to fly out on Tuesday evening assuming everything looks good and this is a routine visit. I do need to get a backup pair of contacts ordered while at your office. Last time I was at your office, you ordered my backup contacts and had them sent to my home in TN. The left eye backup lens I am using now works great. Just want to make sure I have another one in case something happens.

Thanks again. Look forward to seeing you

The following testimonial was received from a patient with keratoconus in one eye and a corneal transplant with others. He received a scleral lens.

Hi Doc…What’s up hope all is well with you and the family and staff. Want to say my greatest thanks for all you have done for me, my vision is much improved so I’m just expressing my gratitude to you for providing a dedicated and wonderful service.

Patient from Peru

I’m now back in Peru and I’m extremely grateful for all the support that you and your team provided me during my visit. All your staff was incredible and have a lot lot of patience with me. Cattie was really outstanding and made me feel very comfortable!!! She was really nice!!

I’m looking now “like an eagle” and the lenses are so comfortable that when when there are out of my eyes I really missed them!! They are amazing!!

The treatment you gave me is really a life changing, My family and I are so happy with the results. It is incredible for me to see so clearly again, like I miracle. I’m now working on my computer and i don’t have any headache. Now i can work for hours as i used to do. I hope that my eyes can heal of the dryness and become more healthy with the time.

Finally i’m very glad to find a non surgical solution with so great outcomes!!! I will never never put at risk my eyes again!

Patient with multiple RK surgeries

This patient underwent two RK procedures which resulted in both corneas becoming severely distorted. In addition, most of the RK incisions are still open 25 years after the surgery was done. Patient is extremely photophobic. With the scleral lenses she can see clearly and comfortably once again without being sensitive to lights.

Dr. Boshnick,

I wanted to quickly let you know that the new lenses you prescribed are great. They have been comfortable to wear and I think the sight in the right eye is clearer. I’ll be seeing you on October 20 and you can access the improved difference. (no tearing at all!!!) You do magic.

Thank you so much.

Dr. Boshnick, I am so happy you enjoyed the photos I sent !!!!!! I always remember you, you have been always so special and nice, and I can “see” and be comfortable with my contacts because of you, thanks.

Regards to you and your family…
